What I want to share with you is based on an assumption. The assumption is this: God wants His kingdom to expand into the hearts and lives of our community. The word of the kingdom is to spread like seed to all people.
There is no discrimination in the dispersing of the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught his disciples that the receptivity of the word is based on the condition of the heart. In the parable of the four soils (Matthew 13),
some will receive and others will reject the message of the kingdom. Even in the groups that receive, only some will receive with a good heart and produce fruit. This reality does not keep the word from being liberally given to all.
Jesus also said that the harvest is plentiful and the laborers are few. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers. We have asked God to send more laborers to work here in our community. He has answered our prayers!
This Sunday we will be celebrating a new beginning with new folks joining us for the work of the kingdom here in Eagle Rock. We will have the opportunity to begin a new journey in fulfilling the mission of Christ.
We need to be praying for receptive hearts as we continue to reach out to our neighbors and those in our community. I reminded our congregation last Sunday that Eagle Rock Community Church had small beginnings and touched
thousands of lives over the past 87 years. How many more lives will be effected by the ministry of this church in the future? I believe the future is hopeful! Let us keep asking, seeking and knocking!
